Lola by Marc Jacobs perfume review

Lola by Marc Jacobs is definitely not a new perfume on the market but I got it as a gift for Christmas. The bottle always drew my attention whenever I was at a drugstore but I never bought it because it's not an easy perfume to carry around. It's a collector's item for all you Marc Jacobs fans out there!

The scent is everything Marc Jacobs represents: hot, sexy and sparkly. It's build like this: top (grapefruit), heart (roses) and base (vanilla). The scent is very sweet, maybe too sweet for some but not for me.

The bottle is a real piece of art. As if a purple bottle is not striking enough, there's also the pod which looks like a huge blossoming flower. I got the 50 ml bottle which is quite small.

As anyone tried this perfume yet? What do you think?

White coat in Maastricht

Yesterday I went to Maastricht for some shopping. I took this opportunity to wear my white Zara coat. I had been searching for a white coat for years and was so glad to find a model that pleased me last year. For obvious reasons I don't wear this coat that often.

While in Maastricht my mother shot some pictures of me. Maastricht has so many beautiful places so we will definitely take some more pictures there in the summer.

btw: I let my eye fall on a red Mulberry Bayswater bag. To buy or not to buy?

I'm wearing:

dress: H&M
coat: Zara
bag: Chanel
scarf: Gucci
watch: Michael Kors

Katy Perry Killer Queen perfume

Katy Perry is not only a musical genius but she's also busy creating a brand with her name. A couple of months ago Katy Perry released her 3th perfume: Killer Queen. I've been dying to try it out but somehow always forgot about it when I was at a makeup store. Luckily my mother knows me well and gave me this perfume as a gift for Christmas.

Killer Queen is also the name of Katy Perry's company, named after the hit single from Queen. The perfume is tempting with the scent of praline, berries and plums in it.

The idea for this perfume is based on the song "Killer Queen". The song is about the kind of woman Katy Perry wanted to be when she was younger. The kind of woman that makes heads turn around when she enters a room. Katy Perry wanted to create the kind of perfume that could give someone that extra bit of confidence.

The design of the flacon was another thing that attracted me to this perfume. It's a ruby with a golden cover which looks like a queen's crown.  I like everything that looks kind of royal like. Let's call this flacon the new crown jewel in my collection.
PS: you can see Katy Perry's initials on the flacon, two cats (Katy has 2 cats) and a cross (Katy is very religious).

The only disadvantage about the flacon is the fact you can't put it straight up, which is slightly impractical. But jewel don't need to be practical, right?

The scent is created by Laurent Le Geurnec. It's the kind of scent that can draw the attention to you. It's for the kind of people who like to stand out in a crowd. The perfume is quite fruity and that makes the scent very sweet.

Did you try it out yet? What do you think about it?

My week on Instagram

Another week has passed by, see here's what I have been up to.

Le Jardin is a semi annual party at Tongeren. It's always outside and this year the church was a memorable background.

Catching up with some classics! Old school Alice in Wonderland.

Dressing up for a party on Mondaynight. This is one of my all time favourite dresses, it's from Karen Millen.

It's nice to get appreciation for the job you're doing.

Appetizers at Christmas eve.

My family (as am I) are not very good at buying original gifts therefore I got lots of money for Christmas. Nonetheless I got Lola from Marc Jabobs and Killer Queen from Katy Perry. Check my blog later this week for a review of both parfumes.

I got to choose our main dish at Christmas eve: Gourmet.

Blair Waldorf style inspiration

Unfortunately Gossip Girls 6th and final season aired last year but it remains my favourite tv show of all time. I love the storyline, all the drama makes you forget about your own problems. Some of the characters really appeal to me but the best thing about Gossip Girl is the fashion.

Apparently the closet from Gossip Girl is estimated on a dazzling 10 million dollar ! Me jealous? While watching the show it's almost impossible to keep count of all the designer pieces the characters are wearing.

My favourite character by far is Blair Waldorf, played by the incredibly talented Leighton Meester. At the beginning of the series she seems to be a scheming bitch but as the shows evolves you get the see an unconfident and loving side from Blair Waldorf. On one side she wants to reign the school and on the other side there's not much she wouldn't do for her friends.
I would describe Blair's clothing style as classic and chic. Her outfits are always perfect thought out until the last details. Whether it's sleeping, scheming, shopping,... Blair knows how the stand out in a crowd.

If you want to look anything like queen B, keep the following things in mind.

The headband

The headband is without a doubt the favourite accessory from Blair Waldorf and also the most famous one. No outfit is perfect without the headband. She has one in probably every colour known to human kind but her favourite kind of headband is probably one with a tiebow.

The bag

Every woman needs a couple of bags the spice up her outfits. Let me tell you Blair Waldorf always has the newest it bag on her arm so it's not easy to keep up with her. But a girl can dream, right?

The cape

My loyal readers know which item is highest on my wishlist: the cape. You will find a lot of cape inspiration in street style but the real cape trendsetter is again Blair Waldorf.

The gown

This piece needs no explanation. As a real Upper Eastsider Blair Waldorf has a lot of parties on her schedule. Queen B really knows how to dress like a royal, actually for about a season she was royal because of her engagement to the crown prince from Monaco.

The hat

It happens that Blair Waldorf is not wearing a headband, though those moments are very rare. But every now and then the headband is traded in by a hat.

Stockings and socks

Life in New York can get quite cold but a fashion princess like Blair Waldorf will never trade in her skirts and dresses for pants. Therefore stockings and socks are very handy accessories to keep her delicate frame warm.

The schooluniform

Last but not lease: the schooluniform. The launch of Gossip Girl set a whole new trend in streetstyle dressing. All of a sudden schoolgirl uniforms started to show up everywhere. Not Britney Spears ( remember Hit me one more time) but Blair Waldorf was responsible for this trend.
